Part of Moravia’s cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO is a non-material legacy: the Moravian Slovak dance called the verbuňk – protected as part of the non-material cultural heritage of the world.

The verbuňk is the solo male dance of the military recruits provides great latitude for improvisation and the personality of the individual dancer. Combined with elaborate folk costume and traditional dulcimer music, the verbuňk is part of the climax of the folklore festivals and celebrations that take place throughout the year in the region of Moravian Slovakia.
